2.2.1. Corridors & Passageways

Where stairways discharge through corridors and passageways, the height of
corridors and passage ways shall be not less than 2.4m.
All means of exit including staircases, lifts, lobbies and corridors shall be
adequately ventilated.
Internal staircase minimum width shall be 2m in all group of building.
Protected Escape Routes shall be adopted for high rise buildings and building
having mixed occupancy/ multiplexes having covered area more than 500 m2.
2.2.2. Spacing between columns
A significant dimension is seen along the mall, which relates to the store front
widths.
The last area is the most flexible and is frequently utilized at 20,25 and 30 meters.
2.2.3. Shops, Sizes and Layouts
• In larger cities that typically measure 12-15m broad and 50-60m long, whereas
smaller cities measure 15-18m wide and 60-80m long.
• These measurements are particularly relevant for shops in 100% retail districts.
• Clear, 8-9m-high basements allow for cost-effective storage of merchandise.
• Ground floors should be around 12m high if no mezzanine is present.
• Mezzanines at least 7'6 inch above floor level can handle most texturing heights.
