1.3 Background

A creative idea for a Kerala historic resort that combines community involvement, and

cultural preservation is presented. The main idea is to save historically significant structures
that are at risk of being demolished and move them close to Ashtamudi Lake, where they

can act as moving monuments to Kerala's rich architectural and cultural heritage. In addition

to providing a novel approach to their preservation, the project aims to stop the imminent

loss of cultural assets by purchasing these endangered buildings from their original owners.
