4. Site Selection And Analysis

4.1.ite Selection Process

For the site selection process, various options were looked in to and considered but this site
in Peramangalam was taken in due to the following reason.
Peramangalam exists near the Thrissur Corporation, which is the central city node of Thrissur.
Because the corporation region is the central city of Thrissur, some level of Suburban style or
even more developed housing systems and other mixed typologies exist in the area. The

region compared to the central city node is more agrarian in nature, which is in the nature of
being taken away from its agrarian style, due to City being developed more and more
outwards as the time progresses. So, the site was selected as a case example of how this
development of housing can be done more sustainably.

Doing an eco-village in this region, can therefore affect the way the people think about
housing development in the future and can be utilized as a case example.

The site is located in Peramangalam in the region of Thrissur and has a Latitude and
10.5294° N and 76.2466° E. The region is situated near to the Western Ghats
Longitude of
and near to the coastal areas, making it a region of rich Flora and Fauna and has an area of
3032 Sq.Km. The area is also situated near the Thrissur Corporation and is in the road to
Guruvayoor making this area a prime area for a community development.

4.3.Population Density

The area has a population of about 13,260 (According to 2011 Census) and has about
759210 houses within the region. The region has a sex ratio of 1108 females to 1000 males.
