There were various locally available materials, used in the design, in order to satisfy the
aspect of reduced carbon emission as well as improved sustainability. Materials like
Laterite, Wood (Teak), Clay Tiles, Stone Floorings, and some amounts of concrete based
structures has been used for designing these structures. Most of these materials had been
used vernacularly in the region of Kerala for past many years and this along with modern
construction techniques has resulted in a more passive sustainable building.

In terms of aspects of zoning, the previously existed rubber trees had been converted into an
area of rejuvenating food forest with various types of food crops and utility crops which
