provided in for the people, living in the area, for a respected amount of time. This provides
the people living in these communities to have a place of interaction as well as place of
communal work. The trees and the forest have been designed according to the various
qualities of the climate, like the wind, sunlight, etc. Residential zones are designed with
community or communal understanding in mind. Aspects like inclusion of Cul-de-sacs,
Duplex, Recreational Buildings (Zone) etc can be said to be the design which has focused
on the aspect of community in this design. One of the major cruxes of this design is the way
the areas had been zoned. Instead of Following any pattern the layout/Zoning has been done
according to the natural flow of the site.

Auroville can be said to be a type of Experimental township, Utilising the concept of Unity
(Community). This aspect of community or communal driven design has created in various
typologies of buildings. The author had visited the different buildings in Auroville during
his internship tenure there. Base on the experiential study understood in by the author, the
case study on these typologies were studied to understand different typologies and how they
function and serve as a singular communal unit. Some of these building typologies were
studied and utilised for the process of designing.

Humanscapes uses Co-Housing as a concept creating more spaces for interaction and other
ancillary functions, while reducing built up area as well. The housing systems so mentioned
here also promote in interactive landscapes and all essential energy conservation methods.
This case study came in more as a visual observation of how a social housing unit had been
designed and through this case it was understood how to create a social and environmentally
friendly housing unit without affecting the surrounding ecosystem. It was also observed
various services were incorporated into the building sustainably like how a stormwater was
also converted to form a public interactive space, during the drier periods of time, etc.
