Topic Title: Textile Interpretation Center
Supervisor: Prof. Pavithra
Synopsis
This thesis proposes a Textile Learning Hub that showcases the diverse textiles of India. It aims to
be a space for education, interpreting various textile types and serving as a learning ground for
upcoming fashion designers. India's unique textiles, crafted in different ways across regions, will be
celebrated in this hub.
The idea is to create an interactive Textile Interpretation Center, moving beyond a regular display to
provide hands-on learning experiences. The center will serve as a bridge between traditional textile
methods and the evolving designs presented by major fashion companies. It also intends to be a hub
for learning, offering workshops for those interested in textiles and a platform for emerging fashion
designers.
The architecture of the hub will be designed to accommodate diverse spaces for exhibitions,
workshops, and collaborative studios. The goal is to create an environment that embodies the richness
of India's textile heritage and encourages creative exploration. This initiative aims to not only
preserve traditional textiles but also nurture the future of textile and fashion design through accessible
learning and collaboration.
It aims to partner with local craftspeople, designers, and schools to give workshops, talks, and
programs for folks interested in textiles. The building will be set up to change easily, so it can always
offer something new and fit different ways of learning.
