                    Synopsis

In the bustling city of Kota, renowned for its coaching centers preparing students for competitive
exams, a growing concern looms over the mental well-being of these young minds. The alarming
rates of depression and suicide among students necessitate a holistic approach to address the
underlying challenges. This thesis endeavors to propose an inclusive design solution that prioritizes
the mental health and overall well-being of students by imagining a holistic city that approaches
coaching in a positive, mental health focused and result driven too.
The project is rooted in extensive research, delving into the daily lives, behaviors, and living
conditions of students in Kota. By comprehensively understanding their challenges, the proposed
design aims to create a supportive and uplifting environment. The focal point is a riverfront
development on the Chambal River, incorporating community-centric spaces such as study halls,
libraries, and community kitchens, class rooms etc These spaces are strategically integrated to foster
a sense of community and collaboration among students to fight loneliness.
The Project goes beyond conventional living arrangements, questions what a student housing should
be. The project offers not just residences but a vibrant ecosystem that promotes interaction and
provides avenues for destressing. Recreation spaces, both indoor and outdoor, are meticulously
designed to encourage physical activity and relaxation. Community centers serve as focal points for
social engagement and collective activities, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support.
Through this design intervention, the project aspires to contribute to the reduction of stressors
associated with competitive exam preparation. The proposed project envisions a holistic environment
that nurtures the mental health of students, providing a sanctuary for personal growth and well-being
while they prepare for competitive exams. The project shall work as a retreat that provides an
environment that supports the students in their journey towards their dreams.
This thesis seeks to exemplify the transformative potential of architecture and urban design in
mitigating the challenges faced by students in Kota, ultimately creating a model for future
developments that prioritize the health and happiness of their inhabitants.
