Synopsis
About 31.5 million people are traveling on cruise ships as per the data of 2023 around the world and
4.72 lakhs in India. As the global landscape of transportation and travel undergoes transformative
shifts, the Mumbai Trust Port stands at the forefront of innovation with a visionary proposal to
reimagine its waterfront through the integration of a Cruise Terminal in Ballard Pier. This
architectural thesis explores the convergence of maritime and subaquatic infrastructure to create a
seamlessly integrated transportation hub in the upcoming years that envisions the future of urban
connectivity.
The Cruise point, situated at the historic Ballard Pier, serves as a gateway to the vibrant city of
Mumbai. Designed with a contemporary aesthetic, the terminal embraces sustainable principles and
incorporates state-of-the-art technologies to enhance passenger experience. The architecture is
responsive to the local context, drawing inspiration from Mumbai's rich cultural heritage, creating an
iconic symbol that celebrates the city's maritime legacy through designs.
In a bold departure from conventional transportation solutions, the proposal includes an Underwater
Train Terminal that redefines subaquatic mobility. Connecting Mumbai's bustling waterfront to
strategic destinations, Passengers are treated to an immersive journey through a submerged tunnel,
in which the terminal is designed to incorporate futuristic ideas where incorporating the terminal for
underwater train terminal initially to Fujairah as a destination for the futuristic prototype of the
underwater train tunnel constructions.
The project envisions a holistic approach to urban planning, aiming to minimize environmental
impact while maximizing efficiency and user experience.
Furthermore, the thesis investigates the social and economic implications of this futuristic
transportation hub. The proposed terminals are not just functional spaces but vibrant hubs for
commerce, culture, and community engagement. The project aligns with the government's vision for
a smart and sustainable Mumbai, contributing to the economic growth of the region and enhancing
the quality of life for its citizens.
The project presents a visionary proposal for the Mumbai Trust Port, transforming it into a global
