Located in Dubai's Al Quoz industrial district, the mosque project involved the Dabbagh
Architects team and was commissioned in 2018 as a memorial to the late father of the
Gargash family. This project highlights the rapport and trust that have been built with the
client throughout a collaborative relationship that has lasted more than 15 years.
The Gargash Mosque's architecture skillfully combines modern language with traditional
Islamic elements. The building's distinctive triangular design pays homage to Islamic
geometry, and Quranic passages create a protective band that encourages direct
communication between visitors and the divine.
The Gargash Mosque offers a journey from the industrial Al Quoz surroundings to a sacred
space that is transforming. The layout purposefully includes areas that help people transition
from the outside world to their inner spiritual worlds. The canopy represents the duality of
body and spirit and links and divides the main prayer block from the areas used for ablution
and lodging.
