The mosque's upper courtyard is surrounded by towering walls that create a distinct barrier
between the peaceful public park inside and the busy outside world. The only externally
visible architectural element is a long canopy that extends from the park. The mosque is
situated under this canopy and is reachable by a path that winds through the park, blending
in perfectly with the natural landscape. The outside world disappears as guests move
through the landscape, going between the walls and down the hill, giving them a
life-changing experience inside the mosque.
Inside, the mosque opens up as a modest but magnificent cave-like area that promotes a
close relationship with God. Intentionally placed slits and fractures along the Qiblah
wall(fig.21) invite daylight into the prayer hall while also emphasizing the proper
orientation for prayer.
