compared to the urban cities of today). The main idea of this thesis is to plug this aspect
of an ecological and communal village into a city like area which essentially interweaves
an urban fabric of a city with both ecological formations as well as urban development
of the region. For the project to be properly designed a well-executed understanding of
the site, understanding of different typologies, understanding of different developments,
sustainable development, vernacular development, local materiality, etc has to be studied
and understood, so that the design can be well thought of and executed according to the

Thrissur is a district which belongs to Kerala, India. The district is well known for its
Various Cultural activities and Heritage Backgrounds, as well as is known as one of the
most developing regions in Kerala. The region becomes an apt location for conducting
the thesis due to having an intense cultural and ecological background some of the
factors which has allowed for choosing Thrissur as a site are as follows
a.The Area is Culturally Inclusive – The region is known as the cultural Capital of
Kerala and because of that various eco sensitive traditions have been passed
down through generations, Especially in the sphere of building typologies and
material usage
b.The Area has more eco sensitive areas- The region is well known for having wild
variety of flora and fauna and has many rivers flowing through it. The region is
also known for producing many food and utility crops which is beneficial for the
people living in the region.
c.The area is advancing well technologically- The area being a developing town
has the potential to advance even more Technologically, leading to newer eco-
friendly technics which can be implemented seamlessly for a better designed-
city.
d.The Region is developing economically- The region is known for its economic
growth and as a result more and more people are coming in to the region for
better job opportunities. So, trying to create an example eco-module can inspire
other people to have a better/ well developed buildings, in turn inspiring the town
around. i.e, essentially creating a butterfly effect
