1.1.2out The Site
A

The selected site is in the region of Peramangalam in the district of Thrissur. The
geographic coordinates of Peramangalam are approximately 10.5294° N latitude and
76.2466° E longitude. The locality is situated near the Thrissur Corporation which is the
central Cultural and developmental sector of the region of Thrissur District. The region

is 9.5 km away from Thrissur and the district Highway connecting to the religious place
Guruvayoor. The region is also situated near to the Western Ghats and near to the coastal
areas, making it an interesting spot to observe variations in biodiversity.

Etymology
The name Peramangalam comes from the name Veeramangalam, which is originated
from the Peralthurkovu Dreeswami Temple Present in the region.
The selected site has an area of 105 acres out of which 25 acres of Land has been chosen
according to the site conditions and to test out the practicality of the thesis project

1.2.ethodology

In order to design in a project based on the ideology of an eco-village, the following
methodology had to be followed.
a)Understanding the site conditions and various other nuances.

b)Understanding Various Typologies to be implemented based on-site study

c)Doing a detailed case study analysis of similar designs/typologies

d)Providing in a detailed understanding of elements and technics which can be
implemented in the design.
e)Providing in an area statement which gives in the required areas needed for

different spaces according to various calculations and Guidelines
f)Providing in Site Zoning according to the area statement and the Site analysis so

done

g)Doing a detailed drawing of the various typologies to be implemented within the
site

h)Doing an overall detailed site plan as well as design for the entire project.
