Executive Summary
Due to changes in Climatic conditions, many environmental and social changes have been
happening all around the world. The increasing climatic fluctuations have led to drastic
changes in the atmosphere around the world, leading to an increase in damage to the
ecosystem. This has therefore become a Global concern for many nations and many strides
towards creating a better ecosystem. Therefore, many nations are currently aiming towards
creating a sustainable future and are focusing on how to achieve that through different
means. The main aim of my Thesis is therefore to design a sustainable research housing

village which encompasses the aspects of greener sustainable living. The hub is mainly
aimed towards the potential of scientific research and practicality, which would allow for
creating a better and more sustainable future. The hub also in a way would be a showcase of
how ideal a sustainable modern village can be. In order to work towards designing such a
village/center, a developing town/city would be an apt location since the town can further
develop based on the principles of the center so developed, hence the location of Thrissur in
Kerala was chosen. The region is known for its lush green vegetation in the surroundings
and more in-depth has a sense of culture intermingled with it. Since the region is also a
developing town along with Various schools/ colleges in the nearby vicinity, the region can
be apt for the development of such a village as it can teach future generations how to live
and thrive sustainably. In order to research more on this topic, various studies must be done
with respect to scientific research, understanding different rules regarding creating a
typology of housing mixed with institutional design, understanding zoning regulations,
Understanding locality etc. Creating or designing a scientific village essentially, can inspire
other regions/nations to put forward their resources towards an eco-friendlier and more
sustainable environment.
