2.1.4.4. Structural System

Both the Exhibition and Convention halls are made of steel structural

systems. I sections as columns, and further I sections as connecting beams are
used to span the 44m lengths, without and central structural supports, as seen

in Figure 13. This makes the halls flexible in terms of openness and use. Cross-

bracing systems are used to handle wind loads and increase the structural

                     strength of the halls.

                     2.1.4.5. Air-conditioning System

Both the Exhibition and Convention halls are serviced with air-

handling-unit (AHU) with air-cooled chiller systems. The chiller systems are

accommodated on the roofs of the structures immediately above. These
connect to AHU’s. within the structures, which thereafter carry cool air into

the halls through ducted systems. Even in the convention hall, AHU units are

located at the first floor, easily accessible through stairs for servicing.
