Both other exhibition centres - the Knit-tech Exhibition Centre (Figure
3) and the Top-light Trade Centre (Figure 4), are open grounds that are use
temporary sheds and structures during the trade fair days. The need for such
open space demands that these are located at the periphery of Tiruppur, and
hence a little difficult to access for all. The scale of these temporary exhibition
spaces clearly indicates the need for well-structured exhibition centres.
Recently, through the Tiruppur Smart City programme, it was
proposed that the existing Town Hall at the centre of the city would be
demolished and converted into a convention centre. Owing to its location in
the core of Tiruppur and around several commercial structures, the proposal
is to develop a convention centre, meeting rooms, some spaces for exhibitions,
car parking, food outlets, and other amenities (Convention Centre, n.d.).
