It is important to understand the pattern of changes that the village has went through to be able

               to determine its future take on culture, lifestyle, arts, crafts and cuisine.


                  Prehistoric        Human habitation in the region dates to the prehistoric period, with evidence of early
                     Era             settlements and rock art.


                    Ancient          Anegundi is associated with the mythical kingdom of Kishkindha, mentioned in the

                    Period           Hindu epic Ramayana as the realm of King Sugriva and his minister Hanuman.

                   Medieval          Rise of the Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th century, with Anegundi emerging as a
                    Period           strategic  outpost  and  administrative  center.  Construction  of  fortified  structures,

                 14  – 17  Century   including the Anegundi Fort, to defend the region and control trade routes. Flourishing

                                     of  art,  culture,  and  architecture  under  Vijayanagara  rule,  with  the  development  of

                                     temples, palaces, and other monumental structures.

                 16th Century        Vijayanagara Empire reaches its zenith under the reign of Emperor Krishnadevaraya,
                                     with Anegundi continuing to thrive as an important military center.
                                     Battle of Talikota in 1565 leads to the decline of the Vijayanagara Empire, marking a

                                     turning point in Anegundi's history.


                     Post-           Anegundi along with Hampi comes under the rule of various successor states and local

                  Vijayanagara       chieftains following the disintegration of the Vijayanagara Empire.
