Additionally, it is home to the pioneering Night Safari, the world's first zoo dedicated
to nocturnal animals. This attraction offers guests the chance to explore via tram or
on foot, encountering over 2,500 nocturnal animals from approximately 130 species,
including predators like lions and tigers and specialized nocturnal creatures, in their
naturalistic nighttime environments (Singapore Zoo, n.d.).

3.2.1 In-person visit inferences
● Positives - The Singapore Zoo excels in creating immersive environments
through its naturalistic exhibits, which use architecture designed to replicate
the animals' natural habitats. This approach not only enriches the lives of the
zoo's inhabitants but also enhances the visitor experience. Thoughtfully
designed pathways, viewing areas, and interactive installations ensure that
every trip is educational and engaging. Furthermore, the zoo offers a variety
of interactive experiences and shows, such as animal feedings and
educational demonstrations, which highlight the intelligence and behaviors of
its residents. Additionally, keeper-led activities like feeding sessions and
enrichment programs allow visitors to engage more directly with the animals,
deepening their understanding of wildlife care and conservation efforts.
● Negatives - Space constraints at the zoo present a significant challenge, as
the limited available area can hinder the expansion or comprehensive
renovation of some animal enclosures. This restriction impacts the potential
for architectural enhancements that could otherwise improve these habitats.
While only a few enclosures are affected by these space limitations, they tend
to be noticeably smaller, which may affect the well-being of the animals
housed within them. This issue underscores the need for careful planning and
innovative design solutions to maximize the use of available space while
ensuring adequate conditions for all species.
