                         2.1.2. Introduction
The trans- harbour link was built to connect Mumbai and navi- mumbai from
thane to Panvel on 1992. It is planned to create seven nodes with each node
planned as a self-sufficient entity with its own infrastructure, commercial
zones, and residential areas. The four nodes at the south are Vashi, Sanpada,
Nerul and Belapur. Vashi station acts as the gateway to Navi- Mumbai with an
average footfall of 1 lakh passengers. These not only acts as stations but as
business nodes with a variety of amenities for the users such as commercial and
retail often built on the top of station with multimodular integration. The latest
addition is the Seawoods station on 2012 between the Belapur and nerul
station. The station have transformed into a large scale TOD development by
2019 with the construction of Seawoods mixed use building. This is said to act
as the largest and modern node with the upcoming metro construction. The
building boasts having a very large commercial area and a large high end mall
to increase the footfall and attract users.
