TECH CHAT WITH DIRECTOR-CDC
The Career Development Centre (CDC) plays an integral role in creating the illustrious placement record of
VIT. The centre further facilitates training activities to prepare students to face campus interviews by
arranging training in aptitude tests, group discussions, preparing for technical and HR interviews through
professional trainers and VIT alumni. Moreover the Centre aims to promote the industry certification courses
and ensures students get placed in the best of both national and international companies. Also the centre
promotes the career counseling by organizing guidance lectures by senior corporate personnel and most
importantly by the immediately placed senior students.
“It would be great if all students start studying
intensively from their very first year of collegiate
education and have good CGPA along with practical
know-how. Based on the requirement of recruiters
across sectors and based on the current changing trend,
the Mechanical engineering students are also expected
to know programming (mainly Python). Internships in
core and allied companies add more value to a CV.
Hence, students shall take steps to do more interns from
their first year onwards. To add on, an “Evaluated
Industry Certification” is a valuable testament. CDC
offers basket of industry certification courses with Dr. V. Samuel Rajkumar
proper evaluation criteria. All students should make use Director – Career Development

Also, Research driven CAPSTONE projects with an emphasis on AI are crucial for Mechanical students. All
students are expected to be multi-faceted. In fact, Mechanical Engineering students who have start-ups and
those who are selected for Consultancy job profile at Global Companies (like Deloitte) are doing great in their
career. To enhance VIT's stature globally CDC will also take steps to leverage on Sustainable Manufacturing.
The CDC Director emphasized the importance of Consultancy related job offers. He said '' Global Consultancy
Companies like Deloitte recruit Mechanical Engineers. SMEC students must be made aware of this and not
concentrate exclusively on core companies

Mr Prahlad Rajhans has just received a job offer from Deloitte UK
with a pay package exceeding 30,000 GBP to work as Analyst and Business
Operations. He hid his BTech and MTech from SMEC VIT. He was interviewed
by the company whilst pursuing his Masters Study from Cranfield University
which is Partnered with SMEC. An elated Prahlad Rajhans said '' The School of
Mechanical Engineering mentored me to further my career profile ''. And
when asked what does he have to say to his juniors in SMEC, he said '' Have an
open mind to foray into challenging new avenues including AI and Business
operations-and allow yourselves to be guided by your professors".
