6.4. Exhibition Gallery
A space for exhibiting various artefacts physical or
digital, literature materials, arts, and handicrafts of
interest to the public.
Spaces include an entrance lobby/ticket counter,
baggage storage, display galleries, outdoor
exhibition space, story-telling spaces, curator’s

and manager office cabin, additional spaces such
as toilets, artefact storage room, surveillance room
and service room.

Viewing angle: The cone of vision of a human is
30 deg above and below eye level, placement of
artefacts within this range will be comfortable for
the visitors.

Lighting: Direct natural light over the artefacts
should be avoided to protect the artefacts. Flexible
lighting systems should be provided which can be
adjusted to enhance the appearance artefact.

Plan Layouts:
Open plan layout: A large space with free circulation and display of artefacts.
Core and Satellite rooms: A main room for orientation in the exhibition, with connecting
smaller galleries for display of artefacts under different categories.
Linear chaining: A linear sequence of galleries, controlled circulation, clear orientation,
separate exit and entrance, pause points are additional.
Labyrinth: Free circulation, guided circulation and directions are random, entrance and exit
can be separate or same.
Complex: Combined group of rooms with features of open plan and labyrinth.
