and collaboration, offering a space where emerging fashion designers can learn from
traditional artisans and vice versa. This interdisciplinary approach encourages
knowledge exchange and creative synergy.
● By facilitating interactions between diverse stakeholders, including artisans,
designers, researchers, and enthusiasts, the centre aims to cultivate a supportive
ecosystem that fosters growth and innovation in the textile and fashion industry.
2.2 Bridging Traditional Methods with Contemporary Design:
● A key objective of the center is to bridge traditional textile methods with
contemporary design practices, emphasizing the importance of incorporating
cultural influences into modern fashion designs. By celebrating India's rich
textile heritage, designers can create globally relevant fashion statements that
honour tradition while embracing innovation.
● Through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative projects, the centre will
showcase how Indian motifs, traditional techniques, and artisanal skills can
be seamlessly integrated into contemporary fashion, thereby preserving
cultural identity and fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
2.3 Supporting Economic Growth and Artisan Revival:
● The Textile Interpretation Center seeks to support economic growth and
artisanal revival by providing opportunities for skills development, market
access, and sustainable livelihoods. By empowering local artisans through
training programs and capacity-building initiatives, the centre aims to
revitalize traditional crafts and enhance their socio-economic status.
