Executive Summary








                     The Indian textile industry, renowned for its synthesis of tradition and modernity, holds
                     global significance with fabrics like silk and cotton reflecting the nation’s diverse
                     culture.

                     In Tamil Nadu, renowned arts like Kanjeevaram, Karuppur Clothes, Korvai weaves, and
                     Madras checks arts are known well and some of them are not well recognized alongside
                     lesser-known varieties. Despite the growth in homegrown fashion, many traditional
                     artisans are not well recognized. This advocates creating a platform where local artisans
                     collaborate with current fashion designers, aiming to promote traditional craftsmanship,
                     support local communities, and create unique that also will revive the art forms that are
                     vanishing. This initiative aims to not only preserve traditional textiles but also nurture
                     the future of textile and fashion design through accessible learning and collaboration.


                     The architecture of the hub will be designed to accommodate diverse spaces for
                     exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative studios. The goal is to create an environment
                     that embodies the richness of India’s textile heritage and encourages creative
                     exploration. This thesis proposes a Textile Learning Hub that showcases the diverse
                     textiles. It aims to design space for education, interpret various textile types, and serve
                     as a learning ground for fashion designers and also traditional artisans. India’s unique
                     textiles, crafted differently across regions, will be celebrated in this hub. It aims to
                     partner with local craftspeople, and designers, to give workshops, and programs for
                     folks interested in textiles. The building will be set up to changeeasily, so it can always
                     offer something new and fit different ways of learning and growing the textile industries.
                     Products resulting from these collaborations will be exhibited, allowing visitors to
                     experience the rich narratives and cultural stories embedded in each textile. Moreover,
                     the initiative extends beyond the interpretation center to include a fashion walk, where
                     collaborative creations take center stage, inviting people from the fashion industry to
                     engage with and appreciate the fusion of tradition and modernity. Also, this project will
                     showcase and emphasize the transition of the fashion style and industry across the ages
                     and times. This will also address the past, present, and futuristic trends nationally and
                     globally.
