3.4. Scope And Limitations
1. Develop an in- depth response to the socio-economic, cultural and environmental

attributes of the indigenous crafts of Anegundi, and identify the working conditions and
spaces required by the artisanal communities.
2. To identify the cultural practices of the region, the needs and behavioural patterns of
different user groups, especially the tourists.
3. Reflect on the contextual attributes of the selected region and propose an infrastructural
design that primarily includes vocational and workshop spaces, visitor’s centre,
archive/library, exhibition and retail spaces, and accommodations, all of which aid the
cultural and economic significance of indigenous crafts of Anegundi, imparts
interpretive knowledge of its historic heritage, while boosting tourism in the region and
enhancing the experiences of the visitors.
The limitations being
1. The thesis focuses extensively on the practices and heritage of Anegundi and sparsely
on Hampi.
2. Lack of awareness among tourists and general public about Anegundi.
3. Enabling tourism only within the capacity of the site without disturbing the existing
ecosystems of Anegundi and the region.
3.5. Significance
1. Social and economic upliftment of artisanal communities of Anegundi and the region
around.
2. Imparting interpretive knowledge among tourists of the heritage of Anegundi.
3. Boost in tourism, enabling tourists to Anegundi.
4. Enhancement of tourist experiences and perception of natural and cultural resources of
Anegundi.
5. Creation of awareness among the local population about the heritage of the region.
