                     4.3.1. Annual Rainfall:
                     Most of the city's rainfall usually falls
                     between October and December,
                     during the northeast monsoon
                     season. Chennai receives most of its
                     yearly precipitation during this time,
                     and strong rains frequently cause
                     localized floods in low-lying regions.
                     Though to a lesser extent, the
                     southwest monsoon season, which
                     lasts from June to September, also
                     adds to the city's rainfall. El Niño
                     and La Niña occurrences are among
                     the variables that affect Chennai's
                     yearly rainfall, which fluctuates from
