Mananchira faces challenges like
             underutilized commercial buildings
and parking issues. The project, by
             providing affordable platforms for
local authors and cultural events, can
             contribute to both economic and
             cultural growth, revitalizing the
             commercial landscape.

             Touristic Potential:

             Mananchira's historical references
and the SM street being a famous
             commercial hub suggest the city's
             potential to attract tourists. The
proposal for a cultural space and
             literary museum could become key
             attractions, contributing to tourism
             revenue.

            5. SITE ANALYSIS

            5.1. About the site

The chosen site for the proposed design is located in the core of the city in Mananchira.

It is well connected to other cities in Kozhikode, due to strategic location of bus stops.

Mananchira precinct houses three main bus stops of Kozhikode – KSRTC Bus Stop,
Palayam Bus stop, and the new bus stand. The site is located at the heart of Old

Calicut, which was a central administrative hub. Therefore, the site is surrounded by

number of government institutes and administrative centres along with commercial
            streets and markets.

The site is 91 km away from Kannur, 85 km away from Wayanad, 20.2 km away from
Beypore. The chosen site includes the famous ‘Chira’ (pond) and later transformed to

Mana-an-Chira, which is named after Manavedan Samoothiri, ruler of Kozhikode
