3.4.AYADA RESORT-MALDIVES
                 INTRODUCTION:
Ayada Maldives is a luxurious all-villa resort that launched in 2019 on the
underdeveloped Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll in the southern Maldives. Designed by the renowned
Singapore firm SCDA Architects, it is one of the Maldives' largest resorts, spanning many
gorgeous islands and a vast private lagoon.
With a building cost of more than $200 million, the palatial resort provides 122 magnificent
beachfront and overwater villas, as well as world-class amenities and facilities distributed
                 across its large 83-hectare grounds.

                 Key design goals:
Create the world's leading ultra-luxurious private island getaway.
Celebrate traditional Maldivian design and craft in a modern way.
Provide various, spacious villa accommodations suitable for families/groups.
Integrate resort facilities with the island's natural beauty.

                 Site Context:
The resort's location on the outlying atoll islands offers easy access to secluded sandbanks,
unspoiled reefs, and vibrant marine environments. This untouched natural setting influenced
the low-density, widely distributed layout, which was painstakingly braided across many
                 Islands.

                 Design Concept:
The design is inspired by the rich traditions of Maldivian handicraft and marine heritage. The
principles of Huvadhoo architecture were reworked in a modern tropical island resort
                 vernacular.
Forms and spaces are inspired by the movement of ocean waves and marine life. Exposed
timber, woven textiles, thatch, stone, and organic elements all influence the feel and visual
experience. The emphasis is on passive architecture and sustainable ways for creating
comfortable microclimates. Structures are meticulously designed to enable constant natural
                 ventilation and maximum natural light.
