3.3.AMILLA MALDIVES RESORT

                    INTRODUCTION:
Amilla Maldives Resort is a premium resort in the Maldives' Baa Atoll, which is a UNESCO
World Biosphere Reserve. It was one of the first resorts to be built with sustainable tourism
and environmental preservation in mind when it opened in 2014.
Singapore developer Maurus' $200 million project comprises of two islands: the main Amilla
Island house island and the overwater Amilla Residences Island, which are joined by a 600-
meter jetty. Multiple architecture firms, including Goya Architects, Oriented Strand Board,
and Jade Jagger, collaborated in the resort design.

                    Key Design Goals:
Create an iconic, world-class, sustainable resort.
Blend contemporary architecture with the natural island landscape.
                    Offer various premium villa accommodations.
Integrate renewable energy and conservation measures.

                    Site Context:
The resort is located on the double-barrier reef of Baa Atoll, one of the Maldives' largest and
deepest atolls. The islands offer direct access to gorgeous beaches, coral reefs, and a diverse
                    aquatic life.

                    Design Concept:
The overall architectural concept, known as "Sustainable Luxury," seeks to harmoniously
merge the built environment with the natural terrain and ocean surroundings.
Warm, natural materials and textures that reflect traditional Maldivian design features with
contemporary architectural shapes and clear lines. The floor-to-ceiling glass affords
                    panoramic views of the ocean.
Open-air pavilions and pathways promote outdoor living and engagement with nature.
Extensive landscaping includes lush gardens, mature palm groves, and reflected ponds.
