The fifteenth issue of MechnoVIT is replete with eye-catching attainments, with the School of

talking about the QS World University Rankings announced this quarter. Mechanical and
Manufacturing Engineering holds a world rank of 251-300, whilst the programme's India rank is 10.
This attainment should attract even better students, researchers, and faculty to join SMEC the
following semester. Two other events stand apart- the Industry Academic Networking Conclave
(IANC) 2023 and ICMMM 2023, a global International Conference bringing mechanical engineers
from the world over right into VIT. The former was a joint venture with the Career Development
MechnoVIT the Honeywell Design-a-Thon event. SMEC students also won laurels at Johnson Controls and Apollo
Centre (CDC) focused on Digital Manufacturing, Autonomous and Hybrid Vehicle Technologies, Green
Energy Technologies and, importantly, Circular Economy. SMEC figures prominently with awards at

Tyres events. ICMMM 2023 was jointly organized with the prestigious American Society of
Mechanical Engineering (ASME), VIT Chapter, and the Royal Academy of Engineering, U.K.

There are many outstanding student accomplishments, and most notably, InsideFPV (Mr.
Arth Chowdhary, Mr. Deyvant Bhardwaj and Ms. Oshi Kumari) got featured on Sony Entertainment
Television as India's first company to provide plug-and-fly FPV drones. Team RoverX backed the first
runner-up position worldwide in the International Rover Challenge, whilst Team Assailing Falcons
received the third worldwide rank for their brilliant design report. Mr. Rama Aravinth received the
prestigious DAAD-WISE fellowship for the year 2023. Many more students’ accolades were
MechnoVIT California. She is pursuing her Master's Degree in Robotics and Control at the University of California,
          highlighted in the current issue.
We proudly feature Ms Raunika Anand, who won the prestigious graduate fellowship at JPL

LA, and this fellowship will provide her funding during this internship at NASA. Eight research
scholars were granted PhD degrees during the last quarter. Ms Rimmie Duraisamy from KTH Sweden
and Ms Raunika Anand are elated and effusive about their VIT links.
Seven projects received funding from various sources nationally as well as internationally.
Professors Vijesh V. and Renold Elsen were granted patents, and five faculty members received
recognition; notably, Dr M. Nageswara Rao was honoured by the Indian Institute of Metals,
Hyderabad Chapter. Talks were delivered by SMEC faculty both nationally and internationally. We
MechnoVIT and 'Tech Chats with Industry Expert' sections.
are proud to note that there has been a notable increase in the number of Q1 and Q2 journal
publications by the SMEC faculty. We urge you to read the features covered in the 'Alumni Corner'

Several MOUs have been inked both nationally and internationally, which will foster strong
research exchanges between the school and partners. Finally, the school is poised to host an
International Conference, RAISE 2023. This is a joint venture between British and American
Universities and VIT, and we request all readers to mark this in their diaries. The conference has an
ambitious, multidisciplinary theme- digitalisation and sustainability challenges for building resilient
manufacturing and services operations. We urge readers to contribute to this important international
event. We assure MechnoVIT will spring surprises in all forthcoming issues; until then, happy
      MechnoVIT reading. (Editorial Team)
