MechnoVIT Engineering’s true voice to the world at large. We are very pleased that the last issue has been read and
EDITORIAL
As always it is a pleasure to present new issues of MechnoVIT, the School of Mechanical
commented upon by many -alumni, students, and Faculty from across VIT Schools. The comments received have
helped us to create this new issue. We thank every one of those who phoned, whatsapped and emailed us. We look
forward to receiving feedbacks once again.
This Edition begins with the NIRF ranks scored by VIT this year. It has been ranked 9 in the University

category, 12 in Engineering category ( holding the 1st rank amongst private Universities), 10 in the Research
MechnoVIT Royal Academy of Engineering and Loughborough University. Team Assailing Falcons bagged the coveted 1 Prize

category (and again holds the 1st rank among private institutions) and importantly, is placed at the 18 place
nationally.
We are proud to announce that Team (Mech-7) have manufactured an Electric Go-Cart Vehicle funded by UK’s
st
for their Technical Design Report and Presentation in the Aero Design East 2022 competition held in Fort Worth
Texas USA.
Student Startups bagged top positions in various events and a young student co-authored a paper in the J.
Cleaner Prod. with an impact factor close to 10. A student article featured in the Ford’s India magazine.
Perhaps, the most newsworthy items that MUST be stated with a GREAT deal of pride are those pertaining to
MechnoVIT funding to the tune of 7.7 crores were received from the Royal Academy of Engineering and DST. Four of our
Shri. Utkarsh Dwivedi(14BME0396) and Shri. Shubham Satyam (12BME0112) who secured All India Ranks of 5
and 497 respectively at the Civil Service Examinations for the year 2021. We are immensely proud of both of them.
Apart from students, SMEC faculty have also received prestigious awards. Several Patents were granted and
faculty members were selected for International Fellowships spanning Australia, France, Germany and Japan.
Several Faculty members were invited for external talks and notably Memoranda of Understandings were
signed with Cranfield University UK, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland and Tata Electronics
Pvt. Ltd. Academic accomplishments vis a vis Journal publications have steadily risen from the past quarter, with an
additional 19 Q1 Journals. Reputed Publishers published Books authored by faculty.
SMEC’s continued engagement with mechanical engineers from across the country was mediated through
MechnoVIT Manufacturing Processes (July 2022). here are exciting events to look forward to in the coming months. These
programs sponsored by DST-SERB (April-May 2022) and through a week long workshop on Materials
include the ICMMM2023, GCMM 2022 and NCICEC 2022 and further details can be found in this edition of
MechnoVIT.
As always, MechnoVIT has again included informal tech chats with alumni. In this edition, we feature an IAS
Officer- Shri. Rallapalli Jagat Sai who describes his journey from VIT to India’s premier administrative service-a
service looked upon with awe and admiration. MechnoVIT also features an overseas alumni Mr. Gowtham
Soundarapandiyan, Postdoctoral Researcher at PSI, who received doctorate from Coventry University, and has
graciously participated in an interactive session which we feature here.
In the Tech chat section, we are proud to feature Mr Rabindra Sah, Chief Engineer - Strategic Projects, Global
MechnoVIT sputtering system Sievert Apparatus and a High-Pressure Hydrogen Chamber-these are facilities to be proud of.

And finally, SMEC’s Avant Garde apparatus infrastructure now includes a customized cylindrical magnetron
We believe that MechnoVIT will flourish and grow from strength to strength in much the same way the School
itself is steadily making its way up year after year in all counts of academic assessments nationally and globally.
