Honourable Chancellor’s Special Awards 2023:
The Chancellor’s Special Award is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon a deserving

alum who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to society. The recipient of this

award not only exemplifies the values upheld by the institution but also serves as an

inspiration to current students and fellow alumni. Dr. Aswin Sekhar, an alum of VIT is

an astrophysicist who is affiliated with the Paris Observatory in France. A minor planet

was named after Sekhar in recognition of his work. He is the first meteor scientist from

India to have a minor planet named after him (33928) Aswinsekhar = 2000 LJ27.
