3.6.2 How does the university promote university-neighborhood network
and student engagement, contributing to the holistic development of
students and sustained community development?
The University has adopted more than five government schools.
Furniture, teaching aids to these schools and awards for the schools excel in
their academic performances are also given. The students help the nearby
schools by teaching English, maths and basic science. Students participate in
these camps.
3.6.3 How does the university promote the participation of the students
and faculty in extension activities including participation in NSS, NCC,
YRC and other National/ International programmes?
There are 10 NSS units in the campus with 100 volunteers in each unit. The
University NSS Cell consists of one NSS Programme Coordinator and 10 NSS
Programme officers. The NSS activities are carried out under two major
categories namely Regular Activity and Special Camp Activity. During the
last four years more than 150 village panchayats were covered under the
special camp developmental activity.
There are two units of NCC. The University encourages the students to take
part in the NCC camp for 10 days.
There are three units of YRC with 300 volunteers. Three faculty members are
coordinate the events organized by this society.
3.6.4 Give details of social surveys, research or extension work, if any,
undertaken by the university to ensure social justice and empower the
underprivileged and the most vulnerable sections of society?
The University has instituted Universal Higher Education Trust, to support the
underprivileged sections. The University also assists the Self Help Groups
(SHG) in their activities by conducting workshops. The University also
conducts workshops for physically handicapped people and training
programmes related to mechanical and electrical engineering.
3.6.5 Does the university have a mechanism to track the students’
involvement in various social movements / activities which promote
citizenship roles?
Involvement of the students in various social movements is monitored by the
Office of the Student Welfare, headed by the Director. Each club, involved in
the social activity, is headed by the faculty who will be involved in organizing
the various events / programmes and assists the students in their participation.
