At the time of issuing hall-tickets each candidate is asked to verify the register
number to check whether his/her name is registered for all subjects for which
he/she has remitted examination fees. Discrepancy, if any, in the hall-ticket is
brought to the notice of the Controller of Examination immediately.
Attendance sheet is generated from the registration list. Invigilators and
Squads are nominated either by the Schools (for internal assessments) or
Controller of Examinations (for Term End Examination). Online fee is
generated by software and the student can use the VIT counters to pay the fees
through Demand Draft. An online payment system is in place from the
academic year 2013-14.
Examinations process is managed by the office of Controller of Examinations
which supplies the required stationery and materials related to the
examination. Seating arrangement of the students and the attendance
particulars are generated through the student database.
The attendance sheets are collected and are transferred to the database. After
evaluation, the marks are entered by the faculty members through their
academic login.
2.5.6 Has the university introduced any reforms in its Ph.D. evaluation
process?
The progress of the Ph.D students is evaluated half-yearly. Each scholar is
expected to submit a half-yearly report, duly signed by the guide and the
School Dean, to the Office of Academic Research. The Doctoral Committee
members (comprising the guide, School Dean, an internal member and two
external members) meet atleast thrice for the assessing the progress of the
scholar. Upon completion of the stipulated research work, the thesis is sent to
two examiners (one within the country and the other from abroad). Finally,
the PhD oral examination board is constituted [consisting of Associate Dean
(Academic Research), School Dean, guide and one examiner] for final viva-
voce of the candidate.
2.5.7 Has the university created any provision for including the name of
the college in the degree certificate?
This clause is not applicable since our Institute is a Deemed to be University
which issues degree under its name and seal.
2.5.8 What is the mechanism for redressal of grievances with reference
to examinations?
The marks are displayed in the Student’s Login Page. In the case of
continuous assessment marks, all materials submitted by the students are
handed back to the student for checking. A quality control meeting is
conducted by the Dean of the School to address the shortcoming in the
teaching/ learning process, if any.
For the Term End Examinations, after the publications of results, the marks
and grade boundaries are displayed. The student has a choice to apply for
paper seeing and re-evaluation. Based on the specific feedback collected from
the student, the papers are sent for re-evaluation. In case the student is not
satisfied with the re-evaluated marks, he / she can apply for appellate re-
