2.1 Student Enrolment and Profile
2.1.1
How does the university ensure publicity and transparency in the
admission process?
The call for admission is published in all leading News papers in India.
The complete process of admission is available in the University website
(www.vit.ac.in). The results of the entrance examination (wherever applicable)
are available on the website and are also sent by ‘short mail service’ to the
concerned candidate. The date of counseling for various programmes is also
intimated accordingly. The counseling status is also displayed in the
University’s website.
2.1.2
Explain in detail the process of admission put in place by the
university. List the criteria for admission: (
e.g
.: (i) merit, (ii) merit with
entrance test, (iii) merit, entrance test and interview, (iv) common
ent rance test conducted by state agencies and national agencies (v)
other criteria followed by the university (please specify).
The following are the processes in place for admission into various
programmes of the University.
[1] Applications are called for admission to various programmes
through advertisements.
[2] For various B.Tech, M. Tech and MCA programmes, the
candidates are required to appear for the common entrance examination,
conducted at various cities throughout India (110 cities) and Abroad (Dubai
and Kuwait). The candidates are ranked. This is followed by counseling. A
minimum cut off in the qualifying examination is also accounted for in the
admission process.
[3] Admission to MBA is based on the performance in the national
level tests such as CAT / XAT / MAT / CMAT / GMAT
[4] For all other undergraduate and post-graduate programmes,
admission is based on the performance in the qualifying examination.
[5] For admission into various research programmes (PhD, M.Phil and
MS by Research), the eligible candidates (marks in the qualifying
examination) are short-listed based on the entrance examination followed by
personal interview.
