Discussing science is always exciting and enlightening. Monthly, we invited an expert
to virtually interact with our scholars and faculty members to spur discussion on
various research topics. We were fortunate to begin our seminar series with one of the
prominent Indian physicists, Prof. M. S. R. Rao, from the Department of Physics,
Indian Institute of Technology, who discussed the fundamental and application
prospect of advanced materials, Quantum materials, thin films,
heterostructures/nanostructures and surface coatings for technological applications.
He concluded his discussion on various growth aspects of large-area piezo materials and diamond
coatings to enhance the mechanical properties of machine tools for defense applications.
In continuation, we invited both international and national renounced research experts from
various research fields like semiconductors, lasers, complex oxides, 2D materials, magnetism,
nanomaterials, and optics. These experts talked about the recent trends in their research field and how
one can use the underlying science related to the materials and exploit them for relevant technological
applications.
These virtual seminars infused deeper thinking and understanding of their research problems
among the research scholar and made them realize to correlate their findings with the real world. Here
we include some of the highlights of virtual seminars.
