2. LITERATURE REVIEW

               Upcoming literature review is about the selected research paper which deals with
               Eco-tourism,  religious  tourism  etc.  from  various  branches  (Tourism,  commerce,

               Management, etc.), which highlights the important points (Needed for this report)

               from  those  papers  and  the  conclusion  part  will  be  the  analysis  of  those  research
               papers.

               2.1. Pilgrimage tourism

               According  to  Pilgrimage  Statistics,  (2019),  around  140  million  pilgrims  travelled

               (year 2019) to 32 Religious destinations. 300 to 330 million tourists visit key sites
               every year and approximately 600 million inbound and outbound religious tourists

               are  visiting  every  year.  Out  of  which  40%  of  them  are  taking  place  in  Europe

               (UNWTO, 2014; Pilgrims, 2019). Religious tourism is playing a key role in tourism.

               Pilgrimage  enhances  the  co-existence  of  people  and  their  activities,  activities
               generate a sense of general purpose that the jan walks with. However, these activities

               have a significant effect deeply in creation on the urban architectural arena a place

               of  a  pilgrimage  forms  and  offer  in  its  architectural  programs.  “A  sustainable

               environment is one in which environmental sustainability conditions are met in the
               cities growth as the other sector that contribute towards growth”. According to (Krier,

               1979:16), pilgrimage is one of the forms of tourism that can achieve the objectives of

               sustainability as it is characterized by little burden to the earth, killing of animals by
               some religion is a taboo, the pilgrimage site are continuously dictated in non-client

               period  and  finally  the  guest  is  closely  related  the  host  in  terms  of  culture.

               Venkatachalam and Patwardhan ,(2011) noted that; some places in India are losing
               control in the development of sustainable pilgrimage tourism since several features

               are being compromised. “Sustainability and pilgrimage:cin the long term, this will go

               far to ensuring a successful pilgrimage tourism industry”. In another work, Laing and
               Frost explored Staging Green Events: There are a number of significant barriers that
