In India, although several group-housing communities have existed in different cities, it was in the
decade beginning in 2000 that they took off in a significant way. The sudden spurt in GDP growth
created millionaires across cities, and as the country developed rapidly, thousands of Non-Resident
Indians found it attractive to return to India. Their demand for security, cleanliness, and amenities
