ABSTRACT
With the pressures of workload, workplace politics and managing multiple
responsibilities, the typical office environment can be challenging for oneself. A terrific
solution for office professionals is a getaway stay. The getaway stay is generally provided
by corporate companies for their employees to the tune of hundred to two-hundred, where
they stay for a short-term period to recuperate, build their team, improve communication
and enhance creativity. The facilities in a getaway generally include conference rooms,
workstations, outdoor spaces like Amphitheatre and outdoor play space, dining and

accommodation for both the employees and their family. In this thesis there will be an all-
encompassing investigation of an office worker's getaway stay, far from their workplace,
customized to meet their professional and personal needs. Furthermore, the facility will be
placed on a hill station since it will be cool and comfortable throughout the year.
Essential to this research is to analyze the contextual relationship between hilltop
landscapes and architectural design. It delves into how topography, climate and local
influence the spatial configuration, material choices and aesthetic elements of a stay situated
in elevated terrains. To build the spaces keeping in mind the office environment,
professional development, work-life balance, technology use team dynamics, stay and
comfort.
This thesis inspects innovative design strategies that prioritize sustainability
compromising on guest comfort. It examines the integration of passive design techniques,
renewable energy systems, indigenous building materials and landscape preservation
methodologies that celebrate the unique beauty of hill environments.
Ultimately, this research contributes to the discourse on Getaway at hill stations of office
people, envisioning sustainable and experiential designs that cater to work, retreat and
nature aspects.
