1. INTRODUCTION
An Art and Craft Village Center plays a pivotal role in preserving, promoting,
and nurturing the cultural and artistic heritage of a community. It acts as a
vibrant hub where artisans, craftsmen, and artists converge to create, display,

and sell their work, thereby fostering an environment of creativity and
innovation. The importance of such centers extends beyond the mere
preservation of traditional crafts; they are instrumental in sustaining the

livelihoods of local artists, providing them with a platform to showcase their
talents and gain recognition on a broader scale.

Moreover, Art and Craft Village Centers serve as educational resources,
offering workshops, demonstrations, and interactive sessions for visitors and
locals alike. This hands-on learning approach not only educates the public
about the significance of various art forms and techniques but also ignites
interest and appreciation for cultural heritage among younger generations. By
bridging the gap between the past and the present, these centers ensure the

continuity and evolution of traditional crafts in the modern world.

In addition, these centers significantly contribute to the local economy by
attracting tourists, who are eager to experience the unique culture and
purchase authentic, handcrafted items as souvenirs. This influx of visitors
supports not only the artists but also the surrounding businesses, creating a
symbiotic relationship that benefits the entire community.

In essence, an Art and Craft Village Center is more than just a venue for
buying and selling goods; it is a vital institution that enriches cultural identity,
fosters community engagement, supports economic development, and ensures
the preservation and continuance of invaluable artistic traditions.

The Swadesh Darshan Scheme is a Government of India project run by the
Ministry of Tourism. Its principal goal is to create theme-based tourist circuits
around the country. These circuits are meant to increase the appeal of a
variety of destinations, which can attract both domestic and foreign tourists.
