5. CASE-STUDIES
5.1. Mall of America, Minnesota
The Mall of America in Minnesota is a massive shopping experience designed
with a unique layout. It resembles a rectangular doughnut with four anchor
department stores at the corners, and pedestrians navigate through three

levels of interconnected walkways. The mall is divided into four distinct zones,
each with its architectural theme and decor. The most impressive feature is
the vast skylight spanning the entire seven-acre Camp Snoopy, providing
natural light and a bright atmosphere. Each zone incorporates architectural
elements that reflect its theme, such as the "North Garden" with garden green
colors and gazebos, and the "West Market" with barrel-vaulted ceilings and
industrial green scheme. The original design concept aims to create a dynamic
and visually stimulating shopping environment. The Mall of America's
architecture goes beyond just providing a roof for stores, aiming to entertain,
orient, and create a memorable shopping experience for visitors.
