● Lightwells as Structural and Illuminative Features: One of the most striking
features of the core is its incorporation of lightwells that resemble vertical columns.
These are not load-bearing but are made from translucent polycarbonate, allowing
natural light to permeate the interior, thus enhancing the core’s airy and weightless
perception. This design not only improves the aesthetic quality but also contributes
to the museum's sustainability goals by maximizing natural light.

● Exoskeleton Structural System: The core is supported by an exoskeleton diagrid
structure, which is both a functional and sculptural element. This lattice design
reinforces the core’s appearance of lightness and technological advancement while
providing the necessary structural integrity. The diagrid pattern also contributes to
the overall aesthetic by creating geometric visual interest that contrasts sharply with
the more tumultuous forms of the shards.
