6.4.1 Overview

The Vandalur Interpretation Center, strategically located at the heart of Vandalur

Zoological Park in Chennai, exemplifies a harmonious blend of architectural
minimalism and advanced educational technology. Drawing inspiration from the

Qatar National Musuem, the center is meticulously designed to engage multiple

senses of the visitors—sight, sound, and touch—enhancing the educational
                       Thesis Report V-SPARC VIT
experience through immersive displays and interactive environments.

                  6.4.2 Entrance and Lobby

                     ● Design Ethos: The entrance sets the tone with a minimalist design, featuring

clean lines and an open feel. The highlight is a pyramidal skylight that bathes

the lobby in natural light, emphasizing the central feature—a dynamic digital

exhibit that introduces visitors to the themes of the center.
                     ● Functional Spaces: Adjacent to the spacious lobby is an office area designated

for staff, equipped with modern amenities and designed to complement the

                         architectural theme of minimalism.

6.4.3 First Gallery: Origins of the Universe

                     ● Enclosed Space Design: This gallery is designed as an enclosed space,

shielded from external light to optimize the effectiveness of projector
displays. Films and clips narrate the origins of the universe, accompanied by

physical exhibits of meteors and space rocks.

                     ● Sensory Engagement: The setup engages auditory, visual, and tactile senses,
similar to the approach in the Qatar National Zoo, where visitors are drawn

into the narrative through multisensory interaction.
