4.2.5. Cultural representation
The Delhi Airport showcases diverse art forms and commemorates the
independence movement along the path leading to the boarding gates.
Additionally, in the arrival area, there is a "hast mudra," symbolizing
India's religious diversity and confidence in cultural values. Furthermore,
the airport stands out for its innovative approach to daylighting.
Within Terminal 3's domestic arrival area, a striking display spans a 240-
meter wall, featuring nine meticulously crafted mudras adorned with a
captivating bronze and copper finish. These mudras, representing hand
gestures, hold profound significance across various facets of Indian culture,
encompassing Hinduism, Buddhism, classical and regional dance forms,
yoga, and visual arts. Each mudra, including Abhaya, Vrada, Akasha,
Mayur, Chatura, Tripataka, Prana, Trishul, and Pranayama, carries
unique meanings derived from religious scriptures. This artistic
installation serves as a visual homage to India's diverse cultural heritage
and its deep spiritual and artistic connections.
