Kumarakom’s climate is moderate on account of its proximity to the ocean

with temperatures falling below 16°C and rarely higher than 38°C. The

concept of the resort was unique with respect to other resorts. It was the
first resort to use the existing housing for the design of the resort to give a

homely space for the people. The restaurant is situated in a 200-year-old

Ettukettu styles mansion. The resort consists of many different spaces a

becomes the strong all-pervasive aesthetic element; the rhythmic
compositions of the tiled roof along with the deep-eaved verandahs form

the basic architectural vocabulary, with elements of the highly articulate

woodwork adding character to the spaces. A major portion of the woodwork
comprises of salvaged wooden elements from traditional Kerala homes,

which were reused seamlessly as an ode to Kerala architecture to rekindle

                     the pride in one’s heritage.
