Engineering, B.Tech and M.Tech Automotive Engineering - In association with
ARAI Pune
The school has been sponsored by DST under FIST scheme in 2003 and 2009
DST has funded the department with the centers to build state of art facilities
under the FIST scheme in the year 2007 and 2009.
Weaknesses
Being a private university, VIT is not getting substantial grants for establishing
advanced research centres or labs from the government
Opportunities
Automotive and manufacturing sectors are flourishing and there is an accrued
demand to carry out research in these areas. Hence to establish the center of
excellence in Engineering Design, Automotive and Manufacturing
Engineering would attract major industries and academic institutions across
the nation.
This department is featured with a strong team of faculty members in the
materials and manufacturing group. They are working on the diversified
research areas that include dissimilar metal welding, bio-compatible materials
and their performance, nano-materials, composites. The output of these thrust
areas of research has profound impact on the industries.
As the university is situated well in middle and connecting there is a wide
opportunity to expand the industrial contacts
50. Future plans of the department.
Centers of Excellence
The future plan is to promote the faculty members to develop the center by bringing
out the technological excellence in the research works. The centers will be focusing
on the needs and salvations of the industrial demands as in manufacturing, automotive
and design. Expertise the faculty members and motivate the students to expedite the
research culture by developing a cross-cultural team through various centers is the
primary motto of the school.
