RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY AND EXTENSION
3.1 Promotion of Research
3.1.1 Does the university have a Research Committee to monitor and
address issues related to research? If yes, what is its composition?
Mention a few recommendations which have been implemented and their
impact.
The University has constituted a three-level committee for monitoring the
research progress of the University. (a) The University Research and
Development Committee (URDC), headed by the Vice Chancellor has one
faculty member from each school as a member of the Committee along with
the Associate Dean (Academic Research). A faculty is assigned to coordinate
the activities of the Committee. (b) At the School level, a set of senior faculty
members form the School Research Development Committee (SRDC), which
is headed by the School Dean and coordinated by the respective faculty
member of the URDC. The SRDC monitors the progress of the scholars and
ensures the proper conduct of the meetings related to school research
activities. (c) A Doctoral Committee is constituted to suggest and monitor the
progress of the individual scholars. Experts in the specific area are nominated
as the members of the committee. The Associate Dean (Academic Research),
School Dean, research guide, one internal faculty member and two external
experts are part of this Committee. It is optional to have a Research Advisor
in the Doctoral Committee panel.
The activities related to sponsored research (of faculty) are taken care and
monitored by the Director (Sponsored Research). The SRDC is also
responsible for scrutinizing the project proposals before they are submitted to
the funding agencies.
3.1.2 What is the policy of the university to promote research in its
affiliated /constituent colleges?

3.1.3 What are the proactive mechanisms adopted by the university to
facilitate the smooth implementation of research schemes/projects?
The University provides the basic infrastructure for starting the research
schemes
Provision for seed money is also available against the proposals submitted
The University mobilizes the funds for the sanctioned projects, even
before the funds are received from the funding agency
The University provides adequate support for the smooth running of the
project, even if the subsequent release of the funds (2
nd
and 3
rd
installments) get delayed
Where ever applicable, the University allocates its financial share for the
implementation of the projects
