1.1Curriculum Design and Development
1.1.1How is the institutional vision and mission reflected in the academic
programmes of the university?
VIT University ensures that the academic programmes reflect the institutional
vision and mission by:
Offering a world class education to students, we are preparing the
graduates to be leaders in their profession, and enabling them to go out and
solve industrial problems.
Preparing our students to be experts in solving industry’s technological
problems, VIT’s mission of improving the standards of industry and
quality education is fulfilled.
Preparing our students to be successful in graduate studies and research,
VIT’s mission of improving the standards of quality education is achieved.
Enabling the students to be leaders in science/engineering/management,
VIT’s mission of improving the living standards of society is fulfilled.
On the whole, all the activities of the university that include academic and
research programmes pursuits are formulated to reflect the institutional vision
and mission statements. Right from the conceptualization stage to
implementation, every activity is meticulously analyzed and validated by
checking whether it translates into institutional goals.
1.1.2 Does the university follow a systematic process in the design and
development of the curriculum? If yes, give details of the process (need
assessment, feedback, etc.).
Yes, a detailed systematic procedure is adopted for designing the curriculum.
It is usually based on the feedback survey on the curriculum and the courses
obtained from the graduands, alumni and the current students and faculty
members about the curriculum and the courses. The next stage of finalizing
the upgradation of curriculum is accomplished by the Board of Studies (BoS)
meeting comprising of faculty members as well as eminent scholars from
academia and industry. The decision is approved by the Academic Council
Meeting, consisting of experts from Academia and Industry. The Academic
Council is scheduled once in a year
1.1.3 How is the following aspects ensured through curriculum design and
development?
Employability
Employability is accomplished by restructuring the curricula based on
the inputs from the industries, alumni and through invited lectures of
eminent scholars from academia and industry. The soft skills of the
students are also enhanced during their course of study.
