As a clause in the Flexible Credit System (FFCS), the students have been
given the option of Undergraduate Research Experience (URE). This is
especially for fast learners. It should be pointed out the final year project
for the students are already in place for most of the programmes.
Centres for Excellence have been initiated at University to benefit the
students. Students are encouraged to carry out their six month project in
industry / academic institutions of high repute. Additional steps were
taken for the successful implementation of the Semester Abroad
Programme (SAP), in which the students are facilitated to carry out their
projects in leading Universities abroad. Also, the selected students of the
undergraduate / post-graduate programme are given opportunity to do their
six month project in industries and scientific institutions.
5. Establish “Continuing Engineering Education Department”. Promote
Research in Education utilizing the Academic Staff College facility
and dovetail it for continuous quality improvement of the academic
and administrative reforms and processes ensuring high quality
innovation-centric teaching & learning
In spite of the fact the ‘Continuing Engineering Education Department’ is
not established per se, the Academic Staff College has been taking efforts
to improve the quality of the teaching learning process by conducting
various Faculty Development Programmes. Resource persons from
Academia as well as Industry are invited to conduct workshops / deliver
(activity-based) lectures to ensure high quality and innovation-centric
teaching and learning.
6. Placement efforts for all students even after pass-out are desirable
E-group has been created for the alumni. All requirements from the
industry are posted, so that the students can attend recruitment drives, even
after they graduate. Placement drives are also organized during the alumni
chapter meetings.
7. Communication and soft skills department may strengthen its activities
to the students and also extend its activities to other unemployed
youths in the neighboring area
New literary clubs (English, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) were established in
order to enhance the communication skill of the students in a participatory
manner. In addition to these, the Placement Centre conducts programmes
for enhancing the soft skills of the students. Also, the academic
assessment of most of the programmes also focuses (in the form of
assignments, seminars and presentations) on improvising the
communication skills of the students.
