Recommendations of the NAAC peer review committee
(2009) and actions taken
The recommendations were prioritized, reviewed and suitable action was
taken as per the information given below:
1. As an emerging University with state of art infrastructure, young and
accomplished scientists are to be recruited to lead the institution to
excellence
Recruitment drives have been taken up to attract young scientists who
have completed their PhD in premier institutes, like IITs, in India. Many
scientists who have completed their doctoral / post-doctoral research
abroad have also been recruited. There have been an increase in the
number of guest lectures and workshops in different schools, as this could
help the faculty members and the students to get acquainted with the latest
developments in the field. The University has identified specific areas in
emerging fields and of national interest and has promoted for the
establishment of the Research Centres that will ultimately lead to the
Centres of Excellence.
2. Young faculty attracting extramural projects should be provided with
substantial matching grants even on expiry of the project so as to
enable continuity
Funding is provided as seed money (upto Rs. 50,000) upon submission of
the project proposal. This could be used for starting a new project or for
research projects during the interim period between the extra-mural grants.
3. Scientific collaborations with well established centers should be
initiated to the new and emerging areas such as Biotechnology,
Biomedical engineering etc. for benefiting of students pursing these
subjects
Initiatives have been taken to establish scientific collaboration with
industry in new and emerging areas. Biosummit, an annual workshop, has
been initiated to benefit students and to understand the needs of the
industry in this regard. Partnering with industries has been initiated.
Interactive sessions with research personnel from internationally renowned
universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard
Medical School and others have been initiated, recently
4.
Undergraduate/ postgraduate students should be given projects
involving experimental work for a semester and efforts should be
made to place the students for these projects with well established
scientific institutions and Research & Development wings of industry
for scientific mentorship
