6.2.9 What mechanisms have been evolved by the University to identify
the developmental needs of its affiliated institutions?

6.2.10 Does the University have a vibrant College Development Council
(CDC) / Board of College and University Development (BCUD)? If yes,
detail its structure, functions and achievements.
The primary objective of the University is to excel in academics and research
and to be on par with the international Universities of highest standards. With
this in mind, the following groups work with specific purposes: Academic
committee, University Research and Development Committee and a World
Ranking Committee. These groups / committees are facilitators of the various
activities either by giving suggestions for improvement or by continuous
monitoring of the activities. The committee consists of the faculty members
from different disciplines. A senior faculty member of the group will
coordinate the activities, like conduct of the meeting and also to monitor the
implemented activities. The coordinator reports to the Vice-Chancellor.
6.3 Faculty Empowerment Strategies
6.3.1 What efforts have been made to enhance the professional
development of teaching and non-teaching staff?
Academic Staff College
(ASC) serves as a nodal point to improve the
performance of its knowledge force by conducting faculty and staff
development programmes. During the last four years about
210
programmes
were conducted for the faculty members. Programmes such as Brain-based
learning, Creating virtual classrooms and video-based lectures, C-
programming, Classroom management, Faculty empowerment and others have
been organized.
The HR team
conducts several faculty and staff training programmes
throughout the year to enhance the professional and soft skill development of
teaching and non-teaching staff. Over the last four years about
120
programmes have been conducted by the HR of the University for the staff
members. Enhancement of the communication as well as technical skills has
been the focus in these training programmes. In addition, programmes such as
Stress management, Brain-based living, Health and happy life, Work life
balance, Minimizing distractions, Group dynamics and others have been taken
up.
The University encourages its various Schools and Centres to organize
National and International Conferences, workshops, seminars, guest lectures
etc., to refresh and learn on the improvements happening in academics and
research. Details of these activities are given in the ‘Evaluative report of the
Schools’.
