6.1.3 How is the leadership involved in ensuring the organization’s
management system development, implementation and continuous
improvement?
The University is governed by the
Board of Management
, the highest
statutory body. It has members representing the University Grants
Commission (UGC)-Government of India, industry, eminent persons outside
the academia and senior faculty members of VIT University. The Chancellor
is the Chairman of the Board, which meets periodically to frame policies and
programs for the growth of VIT University.
The founder/Chairman of the sponsoring Society / Trust shall be the
first Chancellor for his life-term. The Subsequent Chancellor of the University
shall be appointed by the Sponsoring Trust / Society and shall hold office for a
period of five years which is extendable.
The Chancellor shall be the ex-officio Chairman of the Board of the
Management of the University and shall have the following powers:
a) To order a review of the work and progress of the University, to institute
enquiries into the affairs of the University and to pass orders on the
